GUILLAUME MARIE
Born in Caen in 1980, Guillaume Marie trained at the École de Danse of the Paris Opera before joining the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris, from which he graduated.
He began his career as a performer in 2000 and collaborated with numerous choreographers and directors, exploring contrasting universes and unique artistic expressions. Among them are Les Ballets du Nord, Itzik Galili, Thierry Smits, Gael Depauw, Martin Butler, Marlène Saldana & Jonathan Drillet, Guilherme Bothelo, David Wampach, Gaëlle Bourges, Radhouane El Meddeb, Jonathan Capdevielle, Cindy Van Acker, Jan Fabre, Romeo Castellucci, and Gisèle Vienne.
Since 2007, he has developed his own choreographic and performative research within Tazcorp/, a creative space where dance, performance, philosophy, music, and video converge.
His artistic work is grounded in a deep exploration of the body’s states and sensations. He is particularly interested in the tensions that run through living matter, the imprints it leaves, and the transformations it can induce. He seeks to make visible what, from within, determines shape, movement, and image. This search for the visible and the invisible runs through his pieces, where the audience is often invited to question their perception of the moving body, and the physical and psychological limits it encounters.
Guillaume Marie approaches the stage as a place of confrontation, not only between bodies but also between ideas and concepts. He examines the world around him through an artistic lens where dance is never merely an aesthetic language, but an act of engagement, a form of resistance, and a claim. Through his practice, he seeks to shift conventions, deconstruct the audience’s expectations, and provoke reflection on the role of the body in contemporary society.
Guillaume’s work is regularly presented in France and abroad: Rencontres Chorégraphiques Internationales de Seine-Saint-Denis (F), La Ménagerie de Verre (F), Festival A Corps (F), TAP, Poitiers (F), Théâtre de Vanves – Festival Artdanthé (F), Festival Jerk Off, Paris (F), Festival Uzès (F), Tanzfabrik, Berlin (D), Berlin Atonal (D), Tanznacht, Berlin (D), Antre Peaux, Bourges (F), Teatre Lliure (E), Lev Festival (E), Donau Festival, Krems (A), Dance in December, Bruges (B), Festival a/d Werf, Utrecht (NL), Alhóndiga, Bilbao (E), …
