NANCY
2010
Created at LEV Festival, Laboral Teatro, Gijon (S) on 30/04 and 01/05 2010
Inspired by the tragic fate of Nancy Spungen, girlfriend of Sid Vicious found murdered in mysterious circumstances, NANCY (2010) is an essay about the power of simulacra, gaze on representation, and its circulation.
Score for a dancer (Suet-Wan Tsang), a makeup artist / fx (Rebecca Flores) and a dark ambient musician (Greg Smith), this performance enjoys the sweet violence of dark romanticism and plays with a heroine whose rise towards death takes some mystical devotion, such as St. Teresa of Avila and her pious ecstasy.
